Now, I know why you resonate with me so much (besides your brain, beauty, and talent). You are a fellow Beatser, except my brother who named me spells it Beetzer. Gary Gene is the birth name I was given. Never identified as a Gene so that long ago became a G. And now we enter Woo Woo territory. I know that I’ve been here before and this time I’m Gary? Cool. But who am I really? I’m going to be 69 next month and when someone calls me Gary, I have to pause and tell myself, they are talking to me. The cursive G of Gary never fit so decades ago my signature starts with a printed capital G. You are the first person I’ve ever told this to. Maybe because you are a Beetzer like me.

I always wondered but I knew that at some point you would share. My story is not quite that exciting. I am a first-generation American. My parents were from Quebec and we spoke only French to them at home. I come from a large family. All of us were born in the US. We lived in a very ethnic neighborhood and wanted to assimilate. All my brothers and sisters called me Andrew even though my name is André. To this day (I’m now 80) and they still call me Andrew or Andy. I’ve come to accept it but when someone asks I now say my name is André, but you can call me Andy.

I guess I was lucky to claim my name, because I Am Sylvia and the forest is my happy place. As archetypes goes I am the king – not the queen. In the new archetype I am ????. I have known many people who changed their name to match their I am, but I never understood in my heart until now.
