This crazy idea came to me and I thought “why not?” I went to the library’s ‘Help Yourself’ table of magazines donated for others to read and took several, the more glossy and unfamiliar to me, the better! I had no intention of reading them. I spread them out on my coffee table and one page at a time cut out anything that appealed to me, a color, a word, a photo, whatever. I sorted this pile of confetti into a weird sense of order and pasted them into a small notebook. A notebook that I had all but forgotten until years later, when I found it while packing for a move. Weird and slightly alarming thing was I was driving a red car like one of the pictures, playing the banjo like one of the pictures, and moving to Oregon with beaches like the pictures. I’d been to Antarctica and walked among seals, and to the outback of Australia, also themes represented in the ‘magic notebook’. Does this qualify as a creative enterprise that can predict the future?
