About
Our Vision
At a time when the world can feel unwelcoming and unsafe for trans and queer people, Queerly Beloved Retreat is unfolding as a testament that you are perfect, whole, and complete exactly as you are.
Our vision is to create a spiritual home where trans and queer folks can return to themselves – beyond the noise of politics, beyond the messages of fear, beyond the narratives imposed by those in power. Here, we remember that our identities are sacred and a reflection of the Divine Truth of who we are meant to be. Here, we honor the brilliance of our spirits, and the many ways we express who we are.
Our History
Queerly Beloved Retreat was founded in early 2025 to honor Mack Golia, a trans man from Michigan who ended his life during a period of rising political hostility toward transgender people. Mack feared he might be forced to give up living as his authentic self. His story reflects the real pressure many trans and queer people face when public policy and rhetoric undermine their safety and dignity.
We created Queerly Beloved Retreat as a way to continue Mack’s legacy of courage, love for humanity, self-expression, and spiritual practice. Queerly Beloved is a space where the trans and queer community can reflect, connect with others, and reignite their inner strength in a safe, welcoming environment.
Established in the Divine Love that Mack had for all beings, Queerly Beloved Retreat exists to affirm that every person deserves the freedom to live their lives fully, spiritually aligned with who they are. Here, we honor him by supporting others in holding onto this truth.
