I can’t count the times because I have blocked most of them out. But I recall a handful in vivid, agonizing detail. One last year, in particular, where I told a very creative awesome coworker a new idea I was going to submit for an INNOVATION contest (seriously… ironic), and she immediately blew me to smitherineys!

She then paused… a very tense pause… and said “Oh my God, I don’t know why I did that…” But it was too late. Idea trashed, and I no longer felt safe sharing anything like that with her. Really, too bad, because she’s brilliant.

Thanks for this, Z. Totally validates what I experienced not being about me, but about how I treated my tender little nubbins of inspiration!

This came at exactly the right time as I just decided to share my “new idea” with a friend and, like you mentioned, the minute it was out of my mouth I could tell the response was not going to be supportive. So, I held onto my “Awesome Idea” and I took it back into my heart and back into Prayer and Meditation, to seek affirmation again from my personal “Higher Power” and ya know what? It IS an “Awesome Idea” and you just showed me how to “nurture and grow” this loving idea until it is strong enough to withstand any sudden winds and for that I Thank you!!!
