The saying, “Fake it, til’ you make it” works. When I act as if I’m feeling confident during stressful situations, I often feel a lot better. It works this way with gratitude too. If mustering gratitude is hard, I find things I would be grateful for, if I could feel it. I focus on what’s wonderful about these things until I start to experience true gratitude. The more I focus on what’s wonderful, the more grateful I feel.
