If I tell myself I’m supposed to be happy all the time, I’m paradoxically setting myself up to be less happy. Being human means living in a vessel that feels many things, happy being only one of them. I also need to make room for feelings like sadness, anger, fear, and grief. When I do, I ground myself in the present moment. And the present moment is where happiness lives. Tricky tricky!
