Yup, that’s what I said.
But don’t panic. Every end is a new beginning. Every time one door closes, another one opens.
I know what you’re thinking: Cut the crap, Goofball. You can’t stop now! You make me laugh. You make me cry. You give me something to do at work when I’m bored out of my mind.
I hear you. And I’m here to tell you that I’m not stopping this blog.
I am simply moving it to another location.
Yes! Life in Z-D is movin’ on up – to a deeeluxe apartment in the cyber sky!
In this case, the location is a brand-spanking-new, about-to-be-revealed website that my wife Melissa and I are creating.
The site is called OhMyGod! Life. It will have music, videos, classes and – you guessed it – blogs.
Wait, did I say blogs? Like, plural?
Yes. Yes, I did!
While Life in Z-D will be flexing its muscles in the new location, another blog will be joining the fun.
The name of the blog?
Dear Meli.
The purpose of the blog?
It’s a spiritual advice column!
And who doesn’t need one of those?! I know I do.
My wife Melissa will be the author of the new blog, and I will be its editor. (Little known fact: Melissa has been the editor of Life in Z-D since its inception.)
But how do I find ‘Life in Z-D’ on the new site? you ask.
No problem: the web address of Life in Z-D will redirect to the new site.
Easy peazy.
As some of you may have noticed, I switched from blogging every week to blogging every other week several months ago.
Why did I do this?
Because.
Really, that’s the clearest explanation I can come up with.
It felt right. It was time. Other projects – like videos and classes and music – were calling.
But now that Melissa will be blogging too, there will always be a blog on Tuesdays. One week it will be Life in Z-D. (This blog will keep its name in the new location.) The next week will be Dear Meli.
Z-D, Meli, Z-D, Meli. And on and on and on ad infinitum.
And it will all be part of the new world called OhMyGod! Life.
I have a little story that best exemplifies how I feel about this change:
Melissa and I were recently traveling on a plane. During the flight, I was listening to music on my headset.
I should say here that I am not a super techie person. You know how there are early adopters? People who purchase the latest tech sensation the minute it hits the shelves?
I am not one of those. I’m a dinosaur. Actually, I’m even older than that. I’m the protoplasm in the ocean that will someday become a dinosaur.
Melissa, on the other hand, is an early adopter. Which means that I inherit all her slightly-old tech stuff when she’s moved on to the next biggest thing.
And this is why I was listening to music on the plane in the first place. Because of Melissa, I have a phone that plays music. And because of Melissa, I have a headset that allows me to bop along with the music, not caring how I look or what anyone else in the plane thinks of me.
(Though me not caring what anyone thinks isn’t because of Melissa. It’s because I’m a Goofball.)
I was having a blast. And because I’m a protoplasm of a dinosaur, this was the first time I’d ever listened to my own music on a plane.
But it was about to get even better.
When Melissa saw how much fun I was having, she asked if she could join me. Did I pull out one of my ear buds and give it to her?
I didn’t need to.
Ms. Super Tech Freak had an adaptor that allowed us both to plug our headsets into my phone.
So there we were, both bopping along to the music, not caring what anyone thought of us. (Cuz Melissa is a Goofball too.)
And I realized that as fun as it was to bop alone, it was about ten times as fun to bop together.
And that’s how I feel about Life in Z-D moving to OhMyGod! Life.
It will be more fun. There will be more bopping.
And everyone will be free to let their Goofball freak flag fly.

Did I hear you correctly? Melissa just whipped out an adapter so that you could both listen from the same device? Good God, who is this remarkable woman—-Inspector Gadget? What else does she have tucked away in her trench coat? A mini coffee grinder, perhaps? (You know, just in case of awkward brewing situation). I am in awe of this partnership, and very much look forward to reading your blog(s) on OhMyGod! Much love…
Hey Jill,
She is very much like Inspector Gadget. (I will have to tell her you said that!) I won’t mention the mini coffee grinder, however. We don’t get another device cluttering up our counters! 😉

Oh thank God you are only moving.
I only just found your site today. I can’t remember why now (because I’ve now spent hours reading so many of your posts) but I googled DYT Type 4 and your post on DYT came up, so I read it and then another post and another, and now it’s dinner time but there is no dinner (oh well).
Love your blog and the idea for a spiritual advice column, see you in your new home, once you’ve moved in, that is.
– Isabella
Hi Isabella!
So glad that you found us! And so sorry about the lack of dinner! 😉
We look forward to seeing you again now that we’re in our new home.
