I should do this. I should do that. Or not! The word should is a flapping red flag, alerting me to the presence of outside pressures. On rare occasions, I may use the word should to motivate me to do something I want to do. But usually not. Catching myself in the act of shoulding myself is a moment of enlightenment. It allows me to check in and find out what I really want to do – should-free!
